Polishing silver with Reconnective Healing

Story from my client newsletter, July 2008:

Yesterday, I wanted to wear my silver star necklace and earrings that I hadn’t worn in 10 years.  They were totally tarnished black, so I got out the silver polish.  I don’t have the super-quick dip-it kind, so I daubed on the regular creamy blue polish and added elbow grease.  I barely made a dent after a several minutes!  The black came off the edges of the stars, but barely budged from the middles.  Of course, I wanted to be hurrying and leaving the house early at the moment.  I added elbow grease. 

I’ve been playing recently with Reconnective Healing –- trying it out on my plants, in my yard, on the kids' mosquito bites.  Remember that once you have been Reconnected, or even have had a Reconnective Healing session, you too have these frequencies available to you all the time.  

Well, polishing was getting boring fast so I decided to play.  For fun I started doing Reconnective Healing while I worked.  I expected nothing of course -- they didn't cover working on jewelery in class.

But my mouth dropped open when immediately I saw the black start to fade before my eyes!  I kid you not.  I couldn't believe it.  I stopped for a few seconds, stopped the Healing, and then polished the regular way again, just using force.  Like before, I could see slight changes only after several passes of the cloth.

So after another minute of that, I shifted into Reconnective Healing again. Immediately, I could see a slight change with each pass of the cloth. Wow. Shocked and confused, but still in a hurry, I used the Reconnective Healing to finish fast.

OK.  What was going on?  Does Reconnective Healing really polish silver?  Does it change the inanimate silver molecules?  Does it allow the necklace to move closer to its full potential?  Does it allow order to be created from disorder and decay on its surface?  I have no clue!  But ponder this:  Reconnective frequencies connect living beings like you to your Full Potential, and to your life's purpose, or why you're here. They make it easier for you to do what you came here to do, and you can heal, even instantly, if that's getting in your way.

Yesterday morning my destination was church, to talk about meditation and talk to the kids about how most adults wish they were more childlike, even as we ask them to act more grown up.  The earring polishing was delaying me, so finishing that faster would move me along my spiritual path.  How the frequencies worked to actually untarnish the silver, I am not sure.  Perhaps tarnished silver is just another of those illusions that The Reconnection helps you to see though in very real and immediate ways.  ;)

I do love how my life has become a delightful adventure since my Reconnection!  How about yours?

Expectations can blind you to healing

It can be limiting to enter a healing situation, as the practitioner or the seeker of healing, with specific expectations.  We all naturally do this, but it's a very logical (left-brained) way to approach healing, which is distinctly a non-logical (right-brained) phenomenon. 

In other words, healing does not compute.  For instance, it is holographic and holistic:  it does not work on one level -- you experience healing benefits throughout your being and life.  Having expectations about your session limits your thinking, blinds you to seeing and appreciating healing in unexpected venues. 

Eric Pearl, founder of The Reconnection, suggests coming to your healing session in a state of expectancy rather than with specific expectations or demands.  This wisdom is not limited to healing.  It also applies to our spiritual journey and practices  (a major side effect of which is... well... healing).

I came across a lovely description of this issue over Thanksgiving while rereading The Wisdom of the Enneagram by Don Riso and Russ Hudson, Bantam, 1999, page 347.  Another point they make is that we often think of healing as "fixing" things that are wrong, another concept that doesn't apply to wholism, spirituality or healing.  Please enjoy their insights:

"A major obstacle to regular practice is the expectation that we will attain a specific result.  Ironically, this obstacle is a problem especially if we have made significant breakthroughs with our practice.  The personality seizes on breakthroughs and wants to re-create them on demand.  But this is not possible because breakthroughs occur only when we are completely open to the present moment, while anticipating a certain payoff distracts us from such experiences.  In this moment, a new gift or insight is available -- although more likely not the one that was available last week.  Furthermore, the personality may use our breakthroughs as justifications to stop practicing, saying, "Great!  You've had a breakthrough!  Now you're 'fixed' and you don't need to do this any more."

P.S.  Funny story:  I just opened a Dove chocolate as I saved this, and the saying on the inner wrapper is: "Set your goals high but not your expectations."  :)
