From a January 2008 email to clients: please check with ABMP for current information, at abmp.com.
Great news for those of you who have taken the Reconnection classes and are considering setting up a Reconnective Healing practice AND who are looking for practice insurance. Here is one option: consider ABMP, the Association of Bodywork and Massage Professionals, for just $199/year. (This is where I've been insured for a few years now.) Because one of you asked, I just got off the phone with the ABMP president, Katie Armitage, who adjusted their list of approved practices to cover Reconnective Healing and The Reconnection, yahoo!!!!
They provide liability insurance coverage, $2 million per incident, plus other benefits like a bodywork magazine, website listings, etc. Please review their policy and get all the information before making your own decision, of course.
Usually there is a 100 hour minimum bodywork training requirement for their Practitioner Membership (membership includes insurance). If you do not have this bodywork/massage therapy, or nursing training, however, you can now still get that membership with a "one technique letter" on the insurance policy. That means that with your Reconnective Healing certificate(s) from class, you can get the insurance but it will only cover you doing the Reconnective healing or doing The Reconnection, whatever you have taken the class for. Just specify Reconnective Healing, or Reconnective Healing and The Reconnection when you apply.
Let me know if you sign up for this. I'd like to know that it's working like she said it would! Thanks.
